DIY string art. String art has become a popular way of creating your own unique decor. It has been around for a few years but has recently become popular again. It can be as simple or difficult as you would like it to be.

List of supplies
- a background of your choice
- 1-inch flat head nails
- string or thin yarn
- scissors
- hammer
I chose a wide piece of wood as my background and had my handy husband cut it into a few even pieces. We stained it an espresso color. I decided to use the heart as a template. You can freehand the design or draw it with chalk. Also, you can find easy to use templates online that show you where exactly where to put the nails and string.

Once, you have your nails hammered in, you can start with the string. (If you used a paper template make sure you tear the paper off before you wrap the string around the nails). Tie a piece of string to a nail (double knot it to make it secure) then wrap the string around the nails to your liking. I went for a simple look but you can make it fuller if you would like.

When you have your design to your liking, you will need to double knot the end to a nail and trim the excess off. You can now decorate your piece of work however you would like. I used photos and nailed them to the background. I love the fact that you can make this project as personal or as simple as you would like.

Hopefully, you enjoy your DIY string art project.
