Best portable Bluetooth speakers. With summer on its way and more and more people spending their time outdoors. I thought it would be a good time to discuss portable speakers.
For my husband’s birthday, the boys and I got him a portable Bluetooth speaker. He had been wanting one for quite some time now. So I set out to find the perfect speaker.
I wanted to get one that was versatile. One we could take to the pool and small enough for him to carry around where he would like to listen to music.
Here is the list of the five speakers I considered.

Portable Bluetooth Speakers
- UE Wonderboom 2 – This is the speaker I ultimately chose. The UE Wonderboom 2 has 360 degrees of sound. It is waterproof and floats on top of the water so you can continue listening to music. Keeps a ten-hour charge. Plus has a convenient hang loop to attach it to any bag. It holds a 13-hour charge and comes in multiple colors.
- UE Megaboom 3 – The UE Megaboom 3 is bigger and better than the Wonderboom, but also more expensive. It has 360 degrees of sound and is waterproof and floats on the water. This speaker holds a 20-hour charge for endless fun and comes in multiple colors.
- Beats Pill – The Beats Pill holds a 12-hour charge. The little lights on the top represent how much battery is left. It is also sleek in design for easy pack and storage on the go. It comes in black, white, and red.
- JBL Flip 5 – The JBL Flip 5 holds a 12-hour charge. It is waterproof and able to be submerged up to three feet of water. It comes in eleven different colors.
- Bose Soundlink Micro – The Bose Soundlink Micro holds a 6-hour charge. It is completely waterproof and has a convenient strap to attach the speaker to anything. It comes in black, blue, and orange.
Conclusion
Overall, there are multiple brands and types of portable Bluetooth speakers. It really all depends on your preference. And just like every other electronic, they are constantly improving and making them better.
There is a range of speakers that hold different amounts of charge. Some are waterproof and some are water-resistant. You can get some in different colors and others you can only get black.
We have enjoyed our UE Wonderboom. My husband uses it in his office while working, we take it outside while doing yard work or playing with the boys. We will also take it to the pool so we can listen to music while swimming.
