    Favorite Children’s Books

Children’s books. They tell you that while you are pregnant with a baby that it is good to read to them. You are allowing your child to experience literature but they are also hearing your voice while you read out loud. But it is even more important to continuing reading to them while they grow up. It is so easy nowadays with all the technology to just sit your child in front of the television or hand them a tablet. If you need some ideas to keep your toddler entertained, check out this post. Even if you personally do not have children or are currently pregnant. This list can be…

    Chores for Toddlers

Chores for Toddlers. With most everyone staying at home during this crazy time, I thought we could discuss toddlers helping with chores around the house. I have two toddler boys. Oliver is three and Emmitt is one. They are at that age where they want to help. Benefits of Chores Chores teach responsibility Chores allow the child to contribute to the household Chores teach respect (respecting the house and the items in it) Chores teach work ethic Chores prepare the child for adulthood and to live on their own Chores teach life skills I taught Life Skills at a juvenile delinquent facility. DIY Faux Wood Beam

DIY Faux Wood Beam. A couple of years ago, Brooke and I had a local builder build us a home. It was our very first experience and looking back there are a ton of things we would have done differently. But that is entirely another post for another day. What I am trying to get to is building a house is not cheap, so we went with the basic things with no upgrades. We decided that we would put our own touches and style on the house throughout the years we live here. Our first big project was adding a faux wood beam between the living room and kitchen/ dining…

    Learning Activities for Toddlers

Learning Activities for Toddlers. We live in a world that revolves around technology. It is so easy to sit our children in front of the tv and let them just watch. Don’t get me wrong, I definitely let my kids watch tv, basically all day. Not my proudest “mom moment” but hey I am human. How else am I supposed to get anything done? My point is that technology has also created some neat learning gadgets for toddlers. That way we don’t feel as bad as parents when they are playing with them. They think they are playing, but they are also learning. These are some of the activities our…

    DIY Shoe Rack and Storage

DIY shoe rack. If you are a mom or a parent, you know there will constantly be items lying around your house. Toys, cups, clothes and so much more, just laying on the floor. I can hear my mom now, “Pick up your shoes and take them upstairs”. The first thing Oliver does when he gets (basically) anywhere is to take his shoes off. We had taught him to put his shoes on the steps to be taken upstairs, but then there were just pairs of shoes on the steps to trip over. Hubby and I both were terrible at leaving shoes just sit under the couch after we took…
